Belgium's compact geography, covering just over 30,000 square kilometers, makes it an ideal destination for a motorhome holiday. You can drive from the sandy beaches of the North Sea coast to the rolling hills of the Ardennes in just a few hours. A motorhome hire provides the ultimate freedom to explore its three distinct regions: the Dutch-speaking Flanders in the north, with its medieval cities like Bruges and Ghent; the French-speaking Wallonia in the south, known for its castles and caves; and the bilingual Brussels-Capital Region, the heart of Europe. This accessibility allows you to craft a diverse, week-long trip without spending entire days behind the wheel.
An RV rental empowers a "slow travel" mindset, offering a level of flexibility that traditional holidays cannot match. Instead of adhering to rigid hotel check-ins and restaurant reservations, you travel with your accommodation and kitchen. This freedom allows you to linger in a charming village you stumble upon, wake up to views of a serene forest, or change your route plan on a whim. It’s a more intimate and value-focused way to experience Belgium's rich culture, from its world-famous breweries and chocolatiers to its poignant World War I history sites, all at your own pace. The cost of a motorhome hire in Belgium is influenced by several key factors, including the time of year, vehicle size, and how far in advance you book. The peak season runs from July to August, when prices are highest and availability is limited. For more affordable rates and greater vehicle choice, consider traveling during the shoulder seasons of May-June or September. Booking your RV several months ahead often secures better pricing. Our detailed guides break down these variables to help you find the best value for your trip.

Belgium’s road infrastructure is modern and extensive, with a toll-free network of motorways (autoroutes) that makes navigation straightforward. However, drivers should be aware of Low Emission Zones (LEZ) in major cities like Brussels, Antwerp, and Ghent, which may require prior registration for your vehicle. Driving a motorhome is similar to a large van, and with a bit of practice, most drivers adapt quickly. Remember that speed limits are strictly enforced, and it's crucial to be mindful of the vehicle's height and width, especially in historic town centers with narrow streets. Our guides provide all the essential rules and tips for a safe journey. On the routes offered through RV PLANET routes, you can itemize and track every expense along the way for easy budgeting.

Belgium offers a fantastic network of places to stay overnight in your motorhome. Options range from fully equipped commercial campgrounds with amenities like electricity, water hookups, and leisure facilities to more basic, dedicated motorhome parking areas known as 'aires' or 'kampeerautoterreinen'. These aires are often located near town centers or natural attractions, providing a convenient and affordable base for exploration. Popular regions for camping include the forested Ardennes and the scenic North Sea coastline. Many sites can be booked in advance, which is highly recommended during the busy summer months.

With its high concentration of historic cities, battlefields, and natural parks, Belgium is perfect for a themed road trip. You could design a week-long route plan focused on culinary delights, visiting Trappist breweries and artisan chocolate shops. Alternatively, a history-themed itinerary could take you from the Napoleonic battlefields of Waterloo to the WWI trenches of Flanders Fields. For nature lovers, a two-week adventure through the Ardennes offers hiking, kayaking, and exploring ancient castles. Our route plans provide inspiration and practical advice to help you build the perfect Belgian adventure.
Renting a motorhome for the first time is an exciting experience, and a little preparation goes a long way. Before you set off, familiarize yourself with the vehicle's systems: how to manage the water tanks, operate the heating and electrical systems, and empty the toilet cassette. When packing, remember that storage space is limited, so bring soft-sided bags instead of hard suitcases. Planning your first few nights' accommodation can also reduce stress as you get accustomed to life on the road. Our guides are packed with practical advice to ensure your first RV trip is smooth and enjoyable.
Choosing the right motorhome and supplier is crucial for a successful trip. Vehicle classes generally fall into three categories: Class B (campervans) are compact and easy to drive, ideal for couples. Class C vehicles offer more space and amenities with an over-cab bed, suiting families. Class A motorhomes are the largest and most luxurious, resembling a bus. When comparing suppliers, look at their fleet age, included amenities, and customer reviews. We're back from a vacation of two and a half weeks in Holland and Belgium, where we picked up our 2 caravans in Düsseldorf. The service was dedicated and efficient, the caravan training in the simulator was very efficient and useful, and saved us quite a bit of time when signing for the vehicles. Beyond that, we got 2 caravans that were almost completely new (only about 3,000 km), without any issues during the vacation. This is also the place to commend the caravan agency in Germany — they explained everything patiently, checked every detail with us, and were really fair throughout the return process. (Of course, we made sure to return the equipment in the same condition we received it.) There's no doubt the trip and caravan experience were excellent — in no small part thanks to you. Warmly recommended. Shay
Bandana helped us find a caravan in southern Germany at the end of summer when all the other caravans were more or less rented out within a 500 km radius — we'd checked through agents in Israel and through agents/internet sites in Germany too. The quote through Bandana was significantly cheaper (tens of percentage points) on the long, month-long rental we did, cheaper than the direct site of the rental company itself! Everything is written without small print. The rental process took place in a village called Leutkirch and was smooth — convenient pickup and even faster return. Bandana was very available throughout the trip for questions and help on any topic. Highly recommend. Regarding caravan pickup, it's very, very important to check every system before driving off. Unfortunately we didn't check the water pump and only discovered the issue with the pump in the evening after the rental. Of course we drove back to the station and it was repaired quickly, and then over the course of a month there were no further issues at all.
Excellent service. Excellent attitude. Warmly recommend.
