Exploring Northern Norway by Motorhome: A Family RV Adventure from Nordkjosbotn

Embarking on an RV road trip from Nordkjosbotn, we set off on a journey through some of Norway’s most breathtaking landscapes. With our motorhome route planner mapped out, we were ready to experience the magic of the Arctic, from wildlife encounters to Viking history and rugged coastal beauty.

One of our first stops was Polar Park, a must-visit for families, where we saw Arctic foxes, wolves, and lynxes up close in their natural habitat. Nearby, Bardu Bygdetun provided a fascinating glimpse into Norway’s rural past, with its charming old farm buildings and cultural exhibits.

Further along the route, we reached Arctic Whale Tours, an unforgettable experience for wildlife lovers. As our boat cut through the icy waters, we watched in awe as majestic whales surfaced, a breathtaking moment for everyone onboard.

In Vesterålen, Dukkehuset was a delightful surprise, especially for the kids—an enchanting collection of dolls and toys set in a cozy, nostalgic atmosphere. It was a wonderful contrast to the next leg of our journey: a deep dive into history at Lofotr Viking Museum, where we walked through a reconstructed Viking longhouse, tried axe-throwing, and even feasted like ancient Norse warriors.

Continuing south, our campervan trip in Norway took us to Moskenes Adventures, offering some of the most stunning coastal views we had ever seen. Exploring the wild beauty of the Lofoten Islands in an RV was a dream come true, with endless opportunities for hiking, fishing, and photography.

Before making our way back, we took a break at Nordlandsbadet, a family-friendly water park—perfect for unwinding after days of adventure. And of course, no road trip planning in this region would be complete without witnessing the natural marvel of Narvik Geyser, a rare thermal feature in the Arctic landscape.

Traveling by motorhome in Norway gave us the freedom to explore at our own pace, stopping wherever the scenery called us. From wildlife safaris to Viking legends and coastal wonders, this campervan route from Nordkjosbotn was an adventure we’ll never forget.
