Haugesund Round trip -

Haugesund Round trip -

Embarking on a 15-day round trip from Haugesund in a rented motorhome, our journey through the majestic fjords and breathtaking landscapes of northern Norway promises to be an adventure of a lifetime. From scenic mountain roads to captivating cultural attractions, each day brings new wonders to explore as we travel with our family in the comfort of our RV.

Our journey begins with a stop at Bondhusdalen Parkering, where we take in the tranquil beauty of the fjord and the towering mountains. A perfect way to kickstart our trip with some peaceful exploration. As we make our way towards Bergen, we can't miss the iconic Fishmarket in Bergen, where we immerse ourselves in the local seafood culture and try some of the freshest fish we've ever tasted. The bustling market is a great way to experience the charm of Bergen, and we also explore the cobbled streets that give the city its timeless appeal.

Next, we head to De Heibergske Samlinger - Sogn Folkemuseum, an open-air museum that offers a fascinating glimpse into traditional Norwegian life. The kids love learning about rural Norway’s past through interactive exhibits. A scenic drive takes us to Loen Skylift, where we’re greeted with jaw-dropping panoramic views of the fjords and the mountains. The ride to the top is exhilarating, and the family enjoys a hike along the trails at the summit, surrounded by nature’s beauty.

A short drive takes us to Hellesylt Ferjekai, where we embark on a ferry ride to get closer to the fjords. With a camera in hand, we capture the unforgettable vistas as we float across the waters. Continuing our journey, we drive through the iconic Trollstigen, an epic mountain pass that thrills with its hairpin curves and majestic scenery. The Trollveggen Besøkssenter is another highlight, where we stop to learn about the awe-inspiring rock faces of Troll Wall, one of the tallest vertical rock faces in Europe.

As we make our way further into Norway, we arrive at Lillehammer, home to the Bobsleigh Skeleton and Luge track. It's exciting to see the site of the 1994 Winter Olympics, and the kids are thrilled to try a simulated bobsleigh ride. Next up, the Paradox Museum Oslo provides a quirky experience where the whole family gets to test their perception with mind-bending exhibits and interactive displays.

Our route planner also guides us to the Silver Mines in Kongsberg, where we take a guided tour deep into the tunnels, learning about Norway’s mining history and discovering fascinating artifacts. We then visit the Heddal Stave Church, one of Norway’s largest and most stunning wooden churches. The intricate craftsmanship is a marvel to behold, and it provides a peaceful respite before continuing our travels.

As we continue through Norway, we take time to explore the picturesque villages of Kolbeinstveit and the Ryfylkemuseet, where we gain insight into the region’s history and local life. A visit to Preikestolen Parking sets the stage for our hike to the famous Pulpit Rock. The climb is a thrilling challenge, but the reward is worth it as we take in the sweeping views of the Lysefjord below.

Our family-friendly road trip wouldn’t be complete without some fun, and Kongeparken in Stavanger offers just that. The amusement park is a hit with the kids, offering rides and attractions that make for a perfect day of laughter and excitement. To finish our trip, we stop at the Stavanger Maritime Museum, where we delve into the region's seafaring history, and at the Viking Village on Bukkøy, where the kids can try their hand at Viking crafts and activities.
