This document contains a brief summary of our rental conditions. The full details of our rental contract do apply. Rates quoted are in Australian dollars.

Driver’s Licence and Minimum Age
A valid, non-provisional, state or overseas driver’s licence is required. If the driver’s licence is not in the English language (e.g. German, French, Chinese, etc) then an international driver’s licence is also required. The driver’s licence must have been held for at least two years and be valid for the whole length of the rental. The original driver’s licence must be shown at time of pick-up when the driver is present.
The minimum age to drive the vehicle is 21 years.
If you wish to make any changes to your booking (including voluntary downgrade) the booking will be calculated by using either the original flex rate or the flex rate that is valid at the time of the booking change, depending on whichever rate is higher. There are no exceptions to this rule. The following situations are classified as booking alterations:
- Change of name
- Change to pick-up or drop-off dates
- Change pick-up or drop-off branch location
- Change of RV category
- Change of rate scheme including special rates
If the rate scheme or RV category is changed, this is considered a new booking and cancellation fees may apply to the original booking.
If an amendment is made to the rental dates within 14 days of collection, no refund will be made if the length of hire is shortened (that is; the rental will be charged at the number of days originally booked). A relocation fee may apply if the collection or return location is amended within 14 days of vehicle pick up or if notification occurs during the hire.
Any change is for extra charge.
Consecutive Apollo Motorhome/Campervan rentals can be combined to qualify for a long-term discount rate. Rentals in the United States of America, Canada, Australia, New Zealand, Germany, France, the United Kingdom and Ireland on Star RV, Apollo, Cheapa Campa and Hippie Camper can be combined to obtain a long-term discount rate, providing travel is within a 3 month period. If drop off of a vehicle and pick up of a new vehicle occurs on the same day then a day each will be charged per respective vehicle. Multiple rentals are treated as separate rentals under the one way fee and minimum rental period conditions. This discount does not apply to completed bookings.
Change of Drop Off Destination
If the renter wishes to change the drop off destination after the rental has commenced, they first must obtain authorisation from Cheapa Campa Reservations. Subject to the change being approved, a minimum additional charge of $750 will apply.
If the guest wishes to extend the rental whilst on hire, they must first obtain authorisation from Cheapa Campa Reservations. This is subject to availability. The extra cost of an extended rental must be paid by credit card over the telephone or at a Cheapa Campa Branch immediately on confirmation of the rental extension.
Failure to obtain authorisation will result in the renter being charged double the daily applicable rental rate.
Change Of RV
Should the vehicle booked be unavailable through unforeseen circumstances, we reserve the right to substitute an alternative vehicle without prior notification and at no extra cost. This shall not constitute a breach of contract and does not entitle the renter to a refund.
Vehicles cannot be requested by make or model, only by vehicle category.
Should the renter decide to take a lesser vehicle than booked within 14 days of pick up or during the rental then they will not be entitled to any refund.
Vehicles must be collected and returned to our branches (not airports). Transfers to and from the Cheapa Campa depot are not included in the rental price. It is the renter’s responsibility to get to and from the branch.
Cheapa Campa has motorhome branches in Adelaide, Alice Springs, Brisbane, Cairns, Darwin and Perth.
All branches are closed Christmas Day, New Years Day, Good Friday and Australia Day Public Holiday.

Our Broome branch is a little more remote than others and therefore a single $750 location fee applies to guests who pick-up or drop-off at our Broome branch.
RV Introduction and Show Through
On pick-up, our staff provide guests with a thorough RV show through with all the necessary information guests need to know about the interior and exterior features of their RV. This ensures guests are comfortable and confident with their RV before they start their road trip. To ensure guests have a thorough RV show through before starting their road trip, they will need to pick up their RV from the branch by 4pm.
The minimum rental for all vehicles is five days.
A 10 day minimum rental period applies during the period of 20 December to 2 January.
A 10 day minimum rental period applies Between 8 to 15 February 2021, for all vehicles that commence from Melbourne, Perth or Sedney.
Minimum rental periods are subject to change during other peak periods.
One Way Rentals
One way rentals are available subject to the minimum rental periods in the table. A one way rental fee of $165 is charged for all one way rentals.
Our 4WD RVs are ready to take adventurous travellers off the beaten track, however for the safety of our guests there are areas from which our vehicles are restricted and/or require written permission from Apollo prior to travel. These include:
Restricted (Written Permission Required)
General: Any Islands; Any remote unsealed roads (not listed below).
Queensland: Birdsville Track, Burke Development Road from Chillagoe to Normanton, Cape York (North of Daintree River), Savannah Way (Normanton to Borroloola), Bloomfield track, Sandover Highway.
South Australia: Oodnadatta Track, Simpson Desert, Strzelecki Track, Gunbarrel Highway.
Victoria: Warburton Road
Western Australia: Bungle Bungles, Cape Leveque, Gibb River Road, Kalumburu Road, Mitchell Falls/Plateau, Tanami Track, Blackstone-Warburton Road, Warburton, Fairfield-Leopold's Downs Roads, Gunbarrel Highway.
Northern Territory: Arnhem Land, Mereenie Loop, Plenty Highway, Savannah Way, Normanton to Borroloola, Finke Road (between Alice Springs and Oodnadatta Track), Tanami Track, Sandover Highway, Jim Jim Falls and Twin Falls (except the X-Terrain).
Not permitted at all times:
General: Fraser Island, Moreton Island and Rottnest Island.
Queensland: Fraser Island, Moreton Island, the Old South Road from Maryvale to Finke, Old Telegraph Road section of the road to Cape York.
South Australia: Old Gunbarrel Highway.
Western Australia: Rottnest Island, Old Gunbarrel Highway, Canning Stock Route, last 2 kilometres of the Lennard River Gorge Road.
Northern Territory: Boggy Hole (Finke Gorge National Park), Central Arnhem Road, The Lost City in Litchfield Park, the Old South Road from Maryvale to Finke, Twin Falls (X-Terrain).
Not permitted 1 December to 31 May
Queensland: Cape York (at all other times - permission is required to travel to Cape York).
Cheapa Campa reserves the right at its sole discretion to restrict vehicle movements in certain areas due to adverse road or weather conditions, and the distance to nominated destinations in relation to the length of the rental period.
Guests who travel to restricted areas without permission will void all liability cover in the event of damage or accident, and may be subject to a penalty fee of $300 charged on each occasion identified.
Rates include 300 kilometres per day. 500 kilometre packages are avialable at a cost of $165. Kilometre packs must be prepaid before departure. There is no refund for any unused kilometres. Excess kilometres are charged at $0.40 per kilometre.
Vehicles must be returned with the interior cleaned and holding tanks emptied. The vehicles exterior does not require cleaning unless it is difficult to ascertain the condition of the vehicle on return. $200 Fees will apply if the vehicle is not returned in the required condition.
Drop and Go Service
All vehicles are to be returned with all surfaces wiped down (kitchen, floors, cupboard, tables, toilet & shower cubicle, windows etc.), fridge cleaned and emptied, rubbish removed, excessively dirty exteriors cleaned and beds converted back to dinettes. Should guests be on a tight schedule we can do this for them for $75 – purchased at pick up. You simply need to Empty the grey water and toilet cassette, put away the clean dishes and return the vehicle neat and tidy to our Apollo team. The Apollo team will do the rest: Clean the kitchen and appliances, clear and clean the fridge, clean all cupboards and benches, clean the bathroom, clean the driving cabin and dispose of your last days' garbage. Garbage must be bagged. Excessive dirt/mud inside or outside the vehicle will incur additional charges.
Although we run late model vehicles, it may happen that small repairs are required. Repairs up to $100 may be affected without authorisation and will be reimbursed unless the damage is caused by the renter. For amounts over $100, Apollo will need to be informed in advance. All vehicles are enrolled in the Australian Automobile Association and 24hr mechanical emergency roadside assistance is available at 1300 798 212.
Infringements and Administration Fees
We reserve the right to charge the renter for any speeding, toll way or parking fines not reported on return of the vehicle.
Both - Service dogs and pet dogs are allowed to travel in our RVs with written permission from Apollo at time of booking. There is a $200 pet service fee, this excludes service animals.
Smoking is not allowed in our vehicles.
Payment at branches
For security reasons, Apollo will only accept credit card or debit card for rental charges paid on vehicle pick up or drop off. Cash payments will not be accepted at rental branches. The Bond on the vehicle is only payable at pick-up by Credit Card or Debit Credit Card. The Bond cannot be paid with a pre-paid Credit Card.
We only accept Visa, MasterCard, American Express and Diners Club. Visa and MasterCard will incur a 2% surcharge on any transaction. American Express and Diners Club will incur a 2.8% surcharge on any transaction.
Exchange Rate / Currency Variations
All credit card transactions are conducted in Australian dollars. Due to exchange rate fluctuations there could be some variance in the amount refunded compared to the amount initially charged. We do not accept any liability for variances up or down. Refunds by credit card can take up to 21 working days depending on the renter’s Financial Institution.
Add AU$60 Net per day. The maximum amount payable per rental segment for an Inclusive Rate is AU$3,000 – i.e. 50 days rental.
The Value Pack includes: 'The High Road' insurance, Pre-purchased Gas Bottle, Extra Driver Fees, Initial set of Toilet Chemicals, Camp Chairs and Table, Baby or Booster Seats (on request).
From April 2020: 3 Toilet Chemicals.
Pre-purchased Gas Bottle (Included in the Value Pack)
The gas bottle(s) is supplied full. A service fee is payable on pick up of the vehicle:
$25 – For all Cheapa 4WD vehicles
The gas bottle can be returned empty to Rental center at the completion of the rental. The fee applies for each part of a multiple rental.
Limit of Liability
In the event of no alternative vehicle being available to the renter our liability is limited to a refund of the hire charge or in the case of mechanical failure (unless caused by the renter) the remainder of the hire period.
We reserve the right to refuse any rental at our discretion.
