Summery of Rental Conditions
This document contains a brief summary of our rental conditions. The full details of our rental contract do apply. Rates quoted are in Australian dollars.
Rentals are charged per calendar day.
No refund will be made if the length of hire is shortened or for unused days. There is no refund for late pick up or early return of vehicle.

Guests may visit any Star RV branch whilst on hire to have their vehicle cleaned, oil and water checked. Clients must call 48 hours prior to arrange this service.
*Linen Exchange Service
Guests may exchange their linen and bedding during their rental at any Star RV Branch. guests must call 48 hours prior to arrange this service.
*Gas Bottle Exchange Service
Every 14 days of hire guests can visit a Star RV branch to exchange their used gas bottle for a full gas bottle.
*Drop and Go
simply return the vehicle neat and tidy and we’ll take care of the rest including vehicle, cabin and bathroom cleaning (more details below).
Driver’s Licence and Minimum Age
A current and full motor vehicle driver’s licence is required. If the driver’s licence is not in the English language then an international driver’s licence is also required. An accredited English translation will be accepted in lieu of an international driving permit. The driver’s licence must have been held for at least two years and be valid for the whole length of the rental. The original driver’s licence must be shown at time of pick-up when the driver is present.
Drivers must be 21 years of age or over.
If you wish to make any changes to your booking (including voluntary downgrade) the booking will be calculated by using either the original flex rate or the flex rate that is valid at the time of the booking change, depending on whichever rate is higher. There are no exceptions to this rule. The following situations are classified as booking alterations:
- Change of name
- Change to pick-up or drop-off dates
- Change pick-up or drop-off branch location
- Change of RV category
- Change of rate scheme including special rates
If the rate scheme or RV category is changed, this is considered a new booking and cancellation fees may apply to the original booking.
If an amendment is made to the rental dates within 14 days of collection, no refund will be made if the length of hire is shortened (that is; the rental will be charged at the number of days originally booked). A relocation fee may apply if the collection or return location is amended within 14 days of vehicle pick up or if notification occurs during the hire.
Any change is for extra charge.
If cancelled on day of pick-up or no show - 100% of rental including any applicable fees e.g. One Way.
Consecutive Apollo Motorhome/Campervan rentals can be combined to qualify for a long-term discount rate. Rentals in the United States of America, Canada, Australia, New Zealand, Germany, France, the United Kingdom and Ireland on Star RV, Apollo, Cheapa Campa and Hippie Camper can be combined to obtain a long-term discount rate, providing travel is within a 3 month period. If drop off of a vehicle and pick up of a new vehicle occurs on the same day then a day each will be charged per respective vehicle. Multiple rentals are treated as separate rentals under the one way fee and minimum rental period conditions. This discount does not apply to completed bookings.
Change of Drop Off Destination after pick up
If the renter wishes to change the drop off destination after the rental has commenced, they first must obtain authorisation from the Star RV Reservations. Subject to the change being approved, a minimum additional charge of AU$750 will apply.
If the guest wishes to extend the rental whilst on hire, they must first obtain authorisation from Star RV Reservations who will advise of the additional costs. Rental extension is subject to fleet availability. The extra costs of an extended rental must be paid by credit card over the telephone or at a Star RV Branch immediately on confirmation of the rental extension.
Failure to obtain authorisation will result in the renter being charged double the daily gross rental rate.
Change Of Vehicle
Should the vehicle booked be unavailable through unforeseen circumstances, we reserve the right to substitute an alternative vehicle without prior notification and at no extra cost. This shall not constitute a breach of contract and does not entitle the renter to a refund.
Vehicles cannot be requested by make or model, only by vehicle category.
Vehicle Age Guarantee
All vehicles in the Star RV fleet are less than 12 months. This age is determined from the date the vehicle is first on fleet.
Should the renter decide to take a lesser vehicle than booked within 14 days of pick up or during the rental then they will not be entitled to any refund.
Vehicles must be collected and returned to our branches (not airports). Transfers to and from the Star RV depot are not included in the rental price. It is the renter’s responsibility to get to and from the branch.
Star RV has motorhome branches in Brisbane, Cairns, Sydney, Melbourne, Adelaide and Perth.
All Branches Closed Christmas Day, New Years Day, Good Friday and Australia Day Public Holiday.
All locations: Mon-Fri 8am to 4:00pm Sat 8am to 12:00pm. Sundays on request. After hours drop offs available outside of these times - we will provide a lock box service on request for those needing to return outside of standard hours.
RV Introduction and Show Through
On pick-up, our staff provide guests with a thorough RV show through with all the necessary information guests need to know about the interior and exterior features of their RV. This ensures guests are comfortable and confident with their RV before they start their road trip. To ensure guests have a thorough RV show through before starting their road trip, they will need to pick up their RV from the branch by 4pm.
The minimum rental for all vehicles is 5 days.
A 7 day minimum rental period applies during the period of 18 December to 2 January.
A 7 day minimum rental period applies during the period of Bathurst Motor Race, from Sydney to the Pandora, Pegasus, Hercules.
A 7 day minimum rental period applies during the period of Phillip Island Race, from Melbourne to the Pandora, Pegasus, Hercules.
A 10 day minimum rental period applies Between 8 to 15 February 2021, for all vehicles that commence from Melbourne, Perth or Sedney.
A 7 day minimum rental period applies during the period of 4-7 June for pick up in Adelaide, Sydney and Melbourne.
A 7 day minimum rental period applies Between 19 September to 7 October 2020.
Minimum rental periods are subject to change during other peak periods.
A compulsory cleaning fee of AU$75 will aplly for rentals 5 days or less.
One Way Rentals
One way rentals are available subject to the minimum rental off 7 days. A one way rental fee of AU$165 is charged for one way rentals.
Star RV reserves the right at its sole discretion to restrict RV movements in certain areas due to adverse road or weather conditions, and the distance to nominated destinations in relation to the rental period. For the safety of guests, the following travel restrictions are in place:
• 2WD RVs aren’t equipped for rough terrain and cannot be driven on unsealed roads. Well-maintained access roads which lead to recognised campgrounds and are less than 12 kilometres long are allowed.
• 2WD RVs can be driven to any island on sealed roads as long as written permission is obtained from Star RV Assist prior to travel.
Guests who travel to restricted areas without permission will void all liability cover in the event of damage or accident, and may be subject to a penalty fee of $300 charged on each occasion identified.
Rates include unlimited kilometres.
For the safety of guests please don’t underestimate the time it will take to get from one point to another. While our RVs include unlimited kilometres we recommend travelling a maximum of 300 kilometres per day or the equivalent of 4-5 hours driving. We encourage our guests to take a break from driving at least every 2 hours.
Vehicle Condition and return
Vehicles must be returned with the interior cleaned and toilette cassette & holding tanks emptied. The vehicles exterior does not require cleaning unless it is difficult to ascertain the condition of the vehicle on return. $200 Fees will apply if the vehicle is not returned in the required condition.
Drop and Go Service - included in the rental rate
You simply need to Empty the grey water and toilet cassette, put away the clean dishes and return the vehicle neat and tidy to our Apollo team. The Apollo team will do the rest: Clean the kitchen and appliances, clear and clean the fridge, clean all cupboards and benches, clean the bathroom, clean the driving cabin and dispose of your last days' garbage. Garbage must be bagged. Excessive dirt/mud inside or outside the vehicle will incur additional charges.
Although we run late model vehicles, it may happen that small repairs are required. Repairs up to AU$100 may be affected without authorisation and will be reimbursed unless the damage is caused by the renter. For amounts over AU$100, Apollo will need to be informed in advance. All vehicles are enrolled in the Australian Automobile Association and 24hr mechanical emergency roadside assistance is available if needed simply contact Apollo Assist at 0800 234 567.
Infringements, Tolls and Fines
Apollo will pass on any charges the guest receives for traffic infringements, toll or parking fines during their road trip For Toll Way Fees received, Apollo reserves the right to charge to the guest’s credit or debit card upon receiving the toll way fee, and an administration fee of $75 to cover associated administrative costs per toll way fee received.
Apollo offers guests the option of purchasing our Toll Package for $39 which gives guests a $50 ‘toll credit’. When travelling through toll ways the credit will be used up to the value of $50. Once $50 is exceeded, another toll package of $39 will be automatically charged to the guest’s credit card. (a .75c registration matching fee applies within the $50 credit).
Service animals are allowed to travel in our RVs with written permission from Star RV at time of booking.
Smoking is not allowed in our vehicles.
Payment at Branches
For security reasons, Star RV will only accept credit card or debit card for rental charges paid on vehicle pick up or drop off. Cash payments will not be accepted at rental branches. The Bond on the vehicle is only payable at pick-up by Credit Card.
We only accept Visa, MasterCard, American Express and Diners Club. Visa and MasterCard will incur an additional 1.69% surcharge on any transaction. American Express and Diners Club will incur an additional 2.8% surcharge on any transaction.
Exchange Rate / Currency Variations
All credit card transactions are conducted in Australian dollars. Due to exchange rate fluctuations there could be some variance in the amount refunded compared to the amount initially charged. We do not accept any liability for variances up or down. Refunds by credit card can take up to 14 working days depending on the renter’s Financial Institution.
Add AU$60 per night.
- The minimum amount payable per rental segment for a Star Pack will be based on the minimum rental period applicable for your rental.
- The maximum amount payable per rental segment for the Value Pack is AU$3,000 – i.e. 50 nights rental.
The Value Pack includes: 'The High Road', Unlimited Windscreen and Tyres, Undercarriage / Overhead damage (covered for accidental damage), Single Vehicle Roll over, Extended Roadside Assistance, GPS, Pre-purchased Gas Bottle, 3 Toilet Chemicals, Camp Chairs and Table and Baby or Booster Seats (with prior request).
For security purposes, only a credit card can be used to provide a Bond. The credit card holder must be present and able to sign for the Bond upon vehicle collection. The credit card holder is jointly and severally liable for any damage to the rental vehicle.
The Bond is fully refundable when the vehicle is returned to the correct location on time, is full of fuel and all other terms of the Rental Contract have been complied with. If there is damage to the vehicle on its return, the Bond will be used to cover the cost of such damage up to the amount of the relevant Liability. However, if the terms of the Rental Contract are breached and the Bond is insufficient to cover the damage then any extra cost will be charged.
Bond Roll Overs are permitted for multi hires only within the same brand and same country when the bond is banked.
Limit of Liability
In the event of no alternative vehicle being available to the renter our liability is limited to a refund of the hire charge or in the case of mechanical failure (unless caused by the renter) the remainder of the hire period.
We reserve the right to refuse any rental at our discretion.
