Summary of Rental Conditions
This document contains a brief summary of our rental conditions. The full details of our rental contract do apply. Rates quoted are in Australian dollars.
Rental Charges
Rentals are charged per calendar day.

Driver’s Licence and Minimum Age
A valid, non-provisional, state or overseas driver’s licence is required. If the driver’s licence is not in the English language (e.g. German, French, Chinese, etc) then an international driver’s licence is also required. For travel in the Northern Territory, an International Driving Permit is required along with the foreign driver licence. We do not accept Digital Driver licences.
Note: UK driver licences that have had approved extensions by the UK DVLA (Driver and Vehicle Licencing Agency) can still travel for up to 11 months past the licence expiry. This extension only applies to full GB driving licence holders. It does not apply to provisional driving licence entitlement.
The driver’s licence must have been held for at least two years and be valid for the whole length of the rental. The original driver’s licence must be shown at time of pick-up when the driver is present.
The minimum age to drive the vehicle is 21 years.
Booking Amendments
If you wish to make any changes to your booking (including voluntary downgrade) the booking will be calculated by using either the original flex rate or the flex rate that is valid at the time of the booking change, depending on whichever rate is higher. There are no exceptions to this rule. The following situations are classified as booking alterations:
- Change of name
- Change to pick-up or drop-off dates
- Change pick-up or drop-off branch location
- Change of RV category
- Change of rate scheme including special rates
If the rate scheme or RV category is changed, this is considered a new booking and cancellation fees may apply to the original booking.
If an amendment is made to the rental dates within 14 days of collection, no refund will be made if the length of hire is shortened (that is; the rental will be charged at the number of days originally booked). A relocation fee may apply if the collection or return location is amended within 14 days of vehicle pick up or if notification occurs during the hire.
Any change is for extra charge.
If cancelled on day of pick-up or no show - 100% of rental including any applicable fees e.g. One Way.
Multiple Rentals
Should a customer have more than one consecutive rental they can be combined to qualify for longer-term hire discounts off the daily vehicle rates.

Change of Drop Off Destination
If the renter wishes to change the drop off destination after the rental has commenced, they first must obtain authorisation from Cheapa Campa Reservations. Subject to the change being approved, a minimum additional charge of AU$750 will apply. The One Way Fee is nonrefundable after pick up.
Rental Extension
If the guest wishes to extend the rental whilst on hire, they must first obtain authorisation from Cheapa Campa Reservations. This is subject to availability. The extra cost of an extended rental must be paid by credit card over the telephone or at a Cheapa Campa Branch immediately on confirmation of the rental extension.
Failure to obtain authorisation will result in the renter being charged double the daily applicable rental rate.
Change Of Vehicle
Should the vehicle booked be unavailable through unforeseen circumstances, we reserve the right to substitute an alternative vehicle without prior notification and at no extra cost. This shall not constitute a breach of contract and does not entitle the renter to a refund.
Vehicle Category
Vehicles cannot be requested by make or model, only by vehicle category.
Voluntary Downgrade
Should the renter decide to take a lesser vehicle than booked within 14 days of pick up or during the rental then they will not be entitled to any refund.
Online Check-In
It is mandatory for guests to complete Apollo’s online check-in prior to pick up at: https://preregistration.apollocamper.com/
By completing the required pick-up information ahead of the pick-up date, guests will experience a smoother and quicker RV collection process. Guests will also be required to watch our Apollo safe driving video prior to pick up, and can access our ‘How To Videos’ through the Apollo Connect App prior to pick up to learn how to use their RV.
Transfer
Vehicles must be collected and returned to our branches (not airports). Transfers to and from the Cheapa Campa depot are not included in the rental price. It is the renter’s responsibility to get to and from the branch.
Branch Locations
Cheapa Campa has motorhome branches in Adelaide, Alice Springs, Brisbane, Cairns, Darwin, Hobart, Melbourne, Perth and Sydney.
Branch Hours
All branches are closed Christmas Day (25 December), New Years Day (1 January), Good Friday (7 April) and Australia Day (26 January) Public Holiday.
• All locations: 9am to 3:30pm - 7 days a week - with some exceptions:
• Adelaide:
- Closed Sundays between 1 May to 31 August.
• Alice Springs, Broome & Darwin:
- Closed between 1 December to 31 March.
• Cairns:
- Closed Sundays between 1 October to 31 March
• After hours drop offs available outside of these times - we will provide a lock box service on request for those needing to return outside of standard hours.
RV Introduction and Show Through
On pick-up, our staff provide guests with a thorough RV show through with all the necessary information guests need to know about the interior and exterior features of their RV. This ensures guests are comfortable and confident with their RV before they start their road trip. To ensure guests have a thorough RV show through before starting their road trip, they will need to pick up their RV from the branch by 3:30pm.
Rental Duration
The minimum rental for all vehicles is five days when pick up and drop off is from the same branch location.
A 7 day minimum rental period applies during the period of 20-25 July, pick up in Brisbane.
A 7 day minimum rental period applies during the period of 19-23 October, pick up in Melbourne.
A 7 day minimum rental period applies for pick ups between 28 March to 2 April 2024.
A 7 day minimum rental period applies during the period of 6-9 October, pick up in Sydney.
A 10 day minimum rental period applies during the period of 24 December to 4 January
Minimum rental periods are subject to change during other peak periods.
A compulsory cleaning fee of AU$75 will aplly for rentals 5 days or less.
One Way Rentals
One way rentals are available subject to the minimum rental periods in the table. A one way rental fee between AU$175 and AU$260 is charged for all one way rentals - depending on the pick-up & drop-off locations.
Additional minimum periods apply as follows:
• 20 Days minimum hire on all O/W rentals OUT of ASP, DRW from 1 Apr - 10th July 2023 excl to ASP, DRW (excl 4wd's)
• 30 Days minimum hire on all O/W rentals IN to HBT from 1st Mar to 30th July 2023
• 30 Days minimum hire on all O/W rentals Into CNS from ADL, ASP, DRW, MEL, SYD from 16th Oct to 20th Dec 2023
• 30 day minimum hire on all O/W rentals INTO ASP, DRW, BME from 1st July - 30th Nov 2023 excl FROM ASP, BME & DRW (excl 4wd's)
• 30 Days minimum hire on all O/W rentals OUT of HBT from 1st August 2023 to 1st February 2024
Travel Restrictions
Cheapa reserves the right at its sole discretion to restrict RV movements in certain areas due to adverse road or weather conditions, and the distance to nominated destinations in relation to the rental period. For the safety of guests, the following travel restrictions are in place:
• 2WD RVs aren’t equipped for rough terrain and cannot be driven on unsealed roads. Well-maintained access roads which lead to recognised campgrounds and are less than 5 kilometres long are allowed.
• Apollo 2WD RVs can be driven to any island on sealed roads as long as written permission is obtained from Apollo Assist prior to travel.
• Restricted Areas - not permitted at all times:
- Queensland: Fraser Island, Moreton Island
- Northern Territory: Plenty Highway
• Restricted Areas - permission required:
- Any Islands
- Queensland: North of the Laura/Cooktown, North Stradbroke Island and Magnetic Island
- South Australia: Kangaroo Island
- Tasmania: Bruny Island
- Northern Territory: Only for the Hitop Campervan
All Apollo 2WD RVs are to drive on unsealed roads longer than 5KM and on any Beaches.
Guests who travel to restricted areas without permission will void all liability cover in the event of damage or accident, and may be subject to a penalty fee of AU$300 charged on each occasion identified.
Kilometres
Rates include unlimited kilometres.
For the safety of guests please don’t underestimate the time it will take to get from one point to another. While our RVs include unlimited kilometres we recommend travelling a maximum of 250 kilometres per day or the equivalent of 4-5 hours driving.
Vehicle Condition
Vehicles must be returned with the interior cleaned and toilette cassette & holding tanks emptied. The vehicles exterior does not require cleaning unless it is difficult to ascertain the condition of the vehicle on return. AU$250 Fees will apply if the vehicle is not returned in the required condition.
Drop and Go Service
All vehicles are to be returned with all surfaces wiped down (kitchen, floors, cupboard, tables, toilet & shower cubicle, windows etc.), fridge cleaned and emptied, rubbish removed, excessively dirty exteriors cleaned and beds converted back to dinettes. Should guests be on a tight schedule we can do this for them for AU$85 – purchased at pick up. You simply need to Empty the grey water and toilet cassette, put away the clean dishes and return the vehicle neat and tidy to our Apollo team. The Apollo team will do the rest: Clean the kitchen and appliances, clear and clean the fridge, clean all cupboards and benches, clean the bathroom, clean the driving cabin and dispose of your last days' garbage. Garbage must be bagged. Excessive dirt/mud inside or outside the vehicle will incur additional charges.
Repairs
Although we run late model vehicles, it may happen that small repairs are required. Repairs up to AU$100 may be affected without authorisation and will be reimbursed unless the damage is caused by the renter. For amounts over AU$100, Apollo will need to be informed in advance. All vehicles are enrolled in the Australian Automobile Association and 24hr mechanical emergency roadside assistance is available at 1300 798 212.
Infringements, Tolls and Fines
Apollo will pass on any charges the guest receives for traffic infringements, toll or parking fines during their road trip For Toll Way Fees received, Apollo reserves the right to charge to the guest’s credit or debit card upon receiving the toll way fee. An administration fee of AU$75 to cover associated administrative costs per toll way fee, traffic infringement or parking fine received may be charged.
Animals
Both - Service dogs and pet dogs are allowed to travel in our RVs with written permission from Cheapa at time of booking. There is a AU$250 pet service fee, this excludes service animals. If a vehicle is returned soiled by a pet Cheapa reserves the right to charge an extra cleaning fee.
Smoking
Smoking and drugs are not allowed in our vehicles. If smoke or drug residue is detected Cheapa reserves the right to charge a cleaning fee.
Payment at branches
For security reasons, Apollo will only accept credit card or debit card for rental charges paid on vehicle pick up or drop off. Cash payments will not be accepted at rental branches. The Bond on the vehicle is only payable at pick-up by Credit Card or Debit Credit Card. The Bond cannot be paid with a pre-paid Credit Card.
Credit Cards
We accept Visa, MasterCard and American Express. Visa and MasterCard will incur an additional 1.21% surcharge on any transaction. American Express will incur an additional 2.6% surcharge on any transaction.
Exchange Rate / Currency Variations
All credit card transactions are conducted in Australian dollars. Due to exchange rate fluctuations there could be some variance in the amount refunded compared to the amount initially charged. We do not accept any liability for variances up or down. Refunds by credit card can take up to 14cworking days depending on the renter’s Financial Institution.
Value Pack
Add AU$39 Net per day for Cheapa Hitop/Cheapa Endeavour and AU$52 for all other motorhomes. The maximum amount payable per rental segment for an Inclusive Rate is AU$1,950 for Cheapa Hitop/Cheapa Endeavour and AU$2,600 for all other motorhomes – i.e. 50 days rental.
The Value Pack includes: VIP Cover ('The High Road'), Undercarriage/Overhead Damage (covered for accidental damage), Pre-purchased Gas Bottle, Extra Driver Fees, 3 Toilet Chemicals, Camp Chairs and Table, Baby or Booster Seats (on request).
Pre-purchased Gas Bottle (Included in the Value Pack)
The gas bottle(s) is supplied full. A service fee is payable on pick up of the vehicle:
AU$25 – Cheapa Hitop/eavour/Cheapa 2 Berth ST/Cheapa Vivid
AU$40 – Cheapa 4 and 6 Berth Motorhomes
The gas bottle can be returned empty to Rental center at the completion of the rental. The fee applies for each part of a multiple rental.
Limit of Liability
In the event of no alternative vehicle being available to the renter our liability is limited to a refund of the hire charge or in the case of mechanical failure (unless caused by the renter) the remainder of the hire period.
Important
We reserve the right to refuse any rental at our discretion.
